
Brigewater Triathlon Club membership has more than doubled this year. largely due to our new ‘My First Triathlon’ program being held for 16 weeks at Fancy Lake. Participants are gradually introduced to the parts of multi-sports including duathlon (run-bike-run), aqualthon (swim-run-swim-run) and concluding on the last night (August 17) with a triathlon (swim-bike-run)
Our members have been very busy at races this summer. Tim Brooks finished second in his age group in the Sprint Distance at the Ingonish Triathlon in Cape Breton on July 3rd. Tom Rogers also participated in this race.
On July 2nd Liam Patterson finished third at the Bedford Kids of Steel Triathlon. Liam also traveled to New Brunswick on July 10th where he finished in first place at the CFB Gagetown Super Sprint Triathlon.
In Port Hood on July 17th Bev Richardson finished second in her age group in the Sprint Distance. Steve Saunders did the Olympic Distance race where he finished third in his age group. Tim Brooks also participated in the Olympic distance.

On July 24th four BTC members travelled to Guysborough. In the Sprint Distance Provincial Championships Janelle Knickle was second female overall and first in her age group. Tim Brooks finished first in his age group. Liam Patterson competed in the Youth Provincial Championships where he finished second overall securing his spot on the Nova Scotia Provincial Team for the third straight year. Steve Saunders finished first in his age group in the Olympic distance.
Inadvertently left out of our last article, at the Greenwood Triathlon Janelle Knickle was second female overall and finished second in her age group in the Sprint Distance. Janelle also traveled to New Brunswick for the Duncan Hadley Triathlon on June 26th where she finished third in her age group in the Olympic Distance.
