Pool swim this fall?

Do you want to pool swim this fall?  We’re proposing three separate swims at emOcean in Lunenburg.  They’ll proceed if we can get enough people.  Each swim will be one hour long and run for 10 weeks (start mid October) .  The options:

  • Open swim — basic lane swim, no set structure – Sunday nights from 6-7pm
  • Coached swim — lane swim with structure by the on-deck coach – Wednesday nights from 6-7pm
  • Learn to swim — meant for anyone just getting into swimming, there will be individual instruction/supervision – Wednesday nights from 7-8pm

We need to let emOcean know by Saturday Aug 27th how much pool time we expect to use this fall, so if you are interested in any of the above, please send an email to bridgewatertriclub@gmail.com.  These swims are open to everyone,  Cost will be determined by the number of people that participate. (typically $8/swim/week)

Final Fancy Lake Practice

A record turnout with 33 participants for the BTC’s final practice in the 16 week Fancy Lake series on Wednesday Aug 17th.  Conditions were perfect — sunny skies, warm temperatures and  a light breeze — a welcome change from the rain of late.

Each finisher was given a lei by our greeter and coach extraordinaire — Tammy Slauenwhite.

The ‘My First Triathlon‘ group were very appreciative of Tammy’s efforts this summer and presented her with a very delicious cake. (that was enjoyed by all :-)

Last practice in the 2011 Fancy Lake series — triathlon

The final practice in the BTC’s 2011 Fancy Lake series takes place on Wednesday August 17th.  It will be a triathlon (swim/bike/run) with two distances for members to choose from:

  • The ‘Sprint’ is an untimed and includes a 200 metre swim followed by a 5k bike and a 2k run.
  • The ‘Olympic’ distance is timed and consists of a 400 metre swim followed by a 10k bike and a 2k run.

The pre-practice meeting takes place at 6:30 and we’ll start the ‘Olympic’ participants at 6:40pm.  Its meant to be fun and a chance to put together all the pieces we’ve been practicing the last 15 weeks.

There’s a social afterwards with good eats and a chance to share stories.  Many thanks to Morgan Donat – Massage Therapist for providing the draw prize for this practice — a one hour massage … sweet!

Practice DUATHLON for 6th night in summer workout series

Last night’s workout was a practice DUATHLON (run-bike-run) .   Six weeks into our program, it was an opportunity for newcomers to put the pieces together while vets could work on their training.

It was a beautiful night at Fancy Lake for the big turnout … is summer finally here ?!?

This concludes our bike/run bricks and we look forward to adding lake swims as part of the weekly program.

Lots of smiles last night (more photos on our FACEBOOK Group) … none more than Ken pictured above!
